The Barn Owl

This was a personal project I did for Peachtober2024. I grew up in the rural Midwest, so this piece is full of nostalgia and brings so much back from my childhood.

This is painted with gouache. I used dry brush techniques on the hills, moon, and trees. I allowed the strokes to show on the owl, silo, ect. to create a soft, timeless look, seen often in American folk art; such as can be found in Lynd Ward’s work in “The Biggest Bear”.
